Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Sep 04 2026

First entry in ‘My Album Review Journal’. Getting some recommendations from 1001 albums to listen to and this the first one. Never known much about Rolling Stones other than Brian Jones’s discovery of The Master Musicians of Jajouka back in the 60s and their recurring trips that led them to record Continental Drift with Bachir Attar whom i met during my trip in Casablanca, what a character. In terms of this album, I wouldn’t say this kinda rock is usually my cup of tea, I feel like you need to grow up with it to truly value it. I’d say my top tracks are by far ‘Gimme Shelter’ and ‘Monkey Man’, the rest is quite leaning towards country which has never rocked my boat. Other than that, it’s an easy listen, it’s been nice to have in the background doing house bits. Anyway, some basics on the rolling stones for my own knowledge is that the founding members are Mick Jagger on vocals and harmonica, Keith Richards on the guitar, Brian Jones was a multi-instrumentalist, Bill Wyman on bass, Charlie Watts on drums and Ian the keyboardist that was sidelined by the manager cuz he didn’t fit the looks but was still around. Apparently Brian Jones was the leader in the first years, but then it seems like Keith and Mick allied and became the main source of songwriting.
