I grew up near Athens, GA. REM is like the hometown band. What has stuck with me over the years is how much the band taught me about the world through their music and their public personas. This is a top tier REM album, but as Michael Stipe said somewhere mid-career, they've managed not to make any stinkers in the bowl. For me, I'd rate this one as a 90/100. For the sake of the rating scale here: 5 stars.

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Sep 10 2026

I don't listen to a lot of Ozzy or Sabbath. But I have to say that the production of this album, especially the drums, is pretty great. I will have to make sure I add a little more Ozzy and Sabath into the rotation.

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Sep 11 2026

This isn't the first time I've listened to this album this week... I gained a huge love of Radiohead during the COVID lockdowns...especially, The Bends. But I like this one for the electronic influence. I feel like this one is where the electronic, the pop, and the rock all come together in a good way. I consider this a top Radiohead album, but I also fall into the category where I think the only one that is questionable is 'Pablo Honey'

Here's Little Richard by Little Richard

The roots of rock 'n roll...no doubt. The two album, deluxe edition, is probably unnecessary. I think hearing the finished product in all it's glory is a better experience. So much verve and life from an album that 70+ years old. I'm giving this a 4 star only because I think that the second album of outtakes detracts from the experience of the main album.

Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow

This may be one of those albums that just suffers because everyone has copied it. I like it. Don't love it. Won't have to go back to it.

This is a coherent album. Which is not something we can say about a lot other albums. 'Mr. Wendall' and 'Tennessee' were known bangers from the start. But I think this is pretty solid album across the board. I see that Arrested Development is still touring. So they are still around. This would be one I would listen to again.

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Sep 15 2026

While not my favorite album from The White Stripes, it is a banger still. Also, recency bias, because I saw Jack White over the summer and it was one of the best concerts I've seen in a long time.

Arc Of A Diver by Steve Winwood
Sep 16 2026

I found this totally unessential.

The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers
Sep 18 2026

I don't find this essential at all.
