1001 Albums Summary

so funky and smooth. Amazing use of drums and the best type of jazz to have on in the background. The instruments used throughout this album mirror, to me, the sounds of nature; like the buzz of insects, or the rush of a river or the slight crackling of a hot day. Creates this gorgeous image of floating down a river while the sun beats down on me (a must try). A standout track for me was watermelon man the use of drums, piano and sax are to dieeee for. I really enjoyed listening but I do find myself leaning towards more lyrical based songs- but I don’t hate jazz…never that… just something I could only listen to selectively

wow quite literally amazing…the funkiness and groove throughout the whole album is impeccable. But don’t let the funk fool you theres some darker moments too, with ‘drugs’ and ‘cant memories wait’ - equally as gorgeous with this heavier atmosphere and punchier delivery. One thing I really loved was the lyricism, theres a certain playfulness in David Byrne’s delivery that almost masks the aggressive and dark undertones of the lyrics…it’s so genius AND fun. Standouts for me have to be ‘cities’ ‘minds’ ‘cmw’ and ‘heaven’

Ive never delved into blur’s discography but I knew it would be fun. This whole album is so playful and so very British. Britain owes blur money, the way they all made being British cool and fun again. Like Japan has anime as reparations for their war crimes and Britain has blur. (Honestly the British are very lucky they have given us so many talented musicians…) The lyrics are simple but Damon’s voice is so perfect for each song. Theres so much life in this album…also the guitar playing throughout this album is insane too. My favs have to be ‘parklife’, ‘bank holiday’, ‘London loves’ and ‘to the end’…and just to be greedy ‘jubilee’ too
