Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Sep 29 2026

Did not finish listening (stopped after Geek U.S.A.). The constant scream/whispering singing was not my vibe but I appreciated the instrumentals (they were insane) and I can see how so many artists I love may have been inspired by this record. I am really not a fan of Corgan's voice and I know if another artist had sung the vocals of this album it would have at least 4 star potential. Personally, each song sounds the same and feel like how I imagine walking in wet cement would feel.

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke
Sep 30 2026

This was interesting! I would definitely listen to it again at some point in the future to fully form thoughts on it as all songs just kind of sounded the same. I didn't love it but I also did not hate it. I understand how this may have been an early variation of R&B and also how this translates into rock and more soulful music. Burke's voice was actually really nice and powerful. I didn't note down any songs that I considered to be a stand out however there definitely were a few!

The Doors by The Doors
Oct 01 2026

I can totally understand just how this has influenced modern music (particularly music I love). I couldn't help but think that the album has an oddly shrek-ish vibe. The last song is too long and I just don't think this is anything special but maybe that's simply how I interpret all music from the 60s.
