It sets a very nice mood and sticks with it, but no songs really stick out. Will probably keep listening to Modern Man, but no other song stuck with me after listening
Not my style. I realize I lack the historical context important to fully appreciate this album, but standalone... That being said, I loved the last 2 songs!
This album, in the same way that The Suburbs had a consistent tone throughout, just sets the perfect mood, except the songs are more distinguishable. I can imagine putting this on in the background on many occasions and it would sound just right.
I like Bowie on occasion, but never listened to any songs on this album. I understand now why they never appeared on my radar - they are generic as far as Bowie is concerned. It honestly feels like he had more ideas on what Modern Love could sound like and made an album based on it (which is not an admonishment, I like Modern Love).
