Not a fan of Michael Stipe’s whiny, grating voice. So many of these songs remind me of being stuck in the back of the car during road trips with a headache and the sun beating down through the windows. I can appreciate the political nature of the lyrics.

This was a decent album. A little bit plain, but very atmospheric and I imagine it would be good for car rides. I think I would have loved this in high school.
Beautiful, ethereal guitar work on this one. However, only a couple songs were stand-outs for me.
Great blues inflected songs. Some standouts for me were “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”, “Sister Morphine”, and “Moonlight Mile” — maybe my favorite song of the album besides “Wild Horses” of course. A couple of the songs sounded very basic and like a billion other blues songs I’ve heard, but overall it was a pleasant listen.
