Never really dug into The Police properly before even though I've liked the hits I've heard. This is way weirder than I expected, mostly in a good way. Production is tight and I like the spacy atmosphere. "Mother" is awesomely strange and theatrical. "Every Breath You Take" has always been an earworm. "Synchronicity II" bangs.

Really liked this album. Mother is weird and like Birthday Party. I actually thought the singles stood out as not fitting with the rest

The proggiest Police album, with a lot of similarities to 80s-era Rush, plus it has a song about dinosaurs. Has some cool and weird deep cuts, like Walking in Your Footsteps, O My God, and Mother. The title tracks are bangers. Still not into Every Breath You Take though. Boring song.

I like lots of Police songs, but this album is not my favorite. It seems like they're going for a kind of Residents vibe with some of these tunes. Some bands pull off that type of theatrical weirdness well, but I don't like how it's done on Synchronicity. The hit singles are decent: Synchronicity II is a banger, and Every Breath You Take has a great guitar hook, despite being the most famous stalker anthem of all time.

I like The Police, but really just their first couple of albums. By this point, it’s clear that they were chasing trends instead of following them. But this is also their biggest album by a wide margin, so *shrug emoji* There are good songs on here, but the best one is easily the bonus track, Murder by Numbers. I never really liked Every Breath You Take, but giving it a couple more listens, I can appreciate the tight production and Sting’s unkempt performance. It’s also leagues better than the ballads that immediately follow it, too. So yeah, it’s better than I recalled, but not the best that they’re capable of. C

Instrumentally, this album is really cool, I very much fuck with their new wave angle, it’s extremely interesting and satisfying. There’s a keen ear to dynamics across the record, each track has something truly different to offer. I really dig the pacing and bursts of energy and color throughout. However, I fucking hate Sting’s vocals – he totally ruins this for me. 2
