Best thing about this album is that it's short. "You Can't Do That" is one of the worst songs I've ever heard.

Unfortunately, I can't unlearn what I know about the later Beatles albums. This album is good, but still very conventional. I prefer the songs when they became more adventurous. Favorite tracks: Can't Buy Me Love, A Hard Day's Night
I'm much more into their studio years than their early pop-rock years, but it still freaking fun to listen to. And it's full of short, catchy songs full of energy, nothing longer than 3', 30' in total; nice and sweet album to listen to. The music itself is not (yet) revolutionary but it's damn good nonetheless -- and actually not so obvious either; the sound of Harrison's 12-strings Rickenbacker is already something. The songwritting is good, and the interaction between McCartney & Lennon is playing well, their voices layered and intertwined for a great result.
From that iconic opening chord, the energy never lets up on this. A fantastic album, and the first that is all original material with no covers. Side one is effectively the soundtrack to the movie, and side two fills it out with songs written at the same time in a blaze of creativity.
Musically a very good album, but the lyrics are not particularly sophisticated.
Schwer zu beurteilen, ob ich das Album mag, weil ich viele Lieder mal mehr, mal weniger intensiv gehört habe und deswegen automatisch die Nostalgie kickt....oder ob die Lieder wirklich einfach zeitlos gut sind. "A Hard Day's Night", "I should have known better", "Can't buy me love", "Things we said today" und "I'll be back" gefallen mir am besten.
Not something I would listen every day, but still pleasant and enjoyable
Another case where the album doesn’t really do it for me. It sounds like 60s Schlagermusik. Sure, I know ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ and ‘Can’t Buy Me Love. Don’t know the rest of the songs and don’t care much about them either. The one Beatles song that I’ve come to really love this past year is ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’. None of these songs on this album come anywhere close for me. I’ll add to it that I even prefer that song covered by others, like Girl In A Coma, more than by the Beatles. It’s just hype pop music of its time and that kind of boy band sound is way past its time for me.
Ah, The Beatles! Grew up listening to their music because it's one of my dad's favourite bands. I don't really actively listen to their albums unless I feel nostalgic for the days when I'd be in the car, my dad choosing the music, and doing road trips around Romania and later Canada. I do like The Beatles to some extent. The songs are catchy, pleasant, to me they are kind of happy for the most part because I listen to a lot of music that is darker by comparison. I enjoyed this album. I'm no Beatles expert. I recognized the popular songs, and was glad to hear some that I am not familiar with.
The contribution that the Beatles made to the further development of music and the emergence of new genres cannot be overestimated. This early work may sound a little "soft" today, but if you listen closely, you can recognise a precursor of a lot of genres in every song. From hard rock to pop and even German Schlager, everything can be traced back to the Beatles in some way. The album itself is not my favourite, but the importance of this album cannot be denied. Hell, the music that you, dear reader, are listening today, probably won't exist without the Beatles. Everything below a 4 star rating would be a crime.
I have a lot of nostalgia here, from playing my parents' Beatles 45s as a kid. This isn't my favourite era of their career, but it's still a ton of fun. I'm still not sure that anyone does pop rock better.
