I do like Dylan's style and this is some quintessential Dylan. There are some good songs in this one but not really one that I'd revisit as a full album. But even still - 3.5
Known this one since high school. One of the most important albums in rock history. And more importantly, one of the best. This is foundational stuff right here. I'd give it a 6 out of 5 if I could.
There are still a lot of Bob Dylan albums I haven't heard yet, although this one I am familiar with. Like a Rolling Stone and Desolation Row are two of my favorites. I'd give this one a 4/5 as it's not my favorite Dylan album I've heard so far (which is Freewheelin') but it's definitely a great album.
Strong opener. He's such a great lyricist, story after story. The harmonica does get a bit too much on occasion, I'm looking at you Queen Jane. He had a good band behind him. I was worried the 11-minute closer was going to ruin things and drag on, but no! Great album, great songs, great singer. HOW DOES IT FEEL?! 3 / 5 stars.
A hodgepodge of rock and folk. Proto hipster swagger.
