Love - a mostly forgotten psychedelic band from the sixties that most people never heard of. They sound like a beatnik and a hippie playing music at a Renaissance fair. I discovered them myself back in the '80s when I realized the Hooters song "She Comes In Colors" was a cover of a Love song. I like a number of the elements in their music but most of their songs don't have a hook and easily forgettable. Complex melodies and lyrics that you rarely find yourself singing along ... self-indulgent for the artist and the listener just has to wait until they're finished. I played "Maybe The People Would Be The Times Or Between Clark And Hilldale" and even though it was fun to play, our guitarist thought it rambled on and hedonistic....the guitarist, that's right, the guitarist. I do think this band is worth remembering and studying but not necessary for the casual listener to be forced to listen an entire album in one sitting. I want to like them more but I've already forgotten every song and couldn't name one (except the one I played) to even request a revisit. Lots of line but no hook will catch zero fish.
