Jane Weaver
5/5
I can't completely explain it but I love this album. I love her voice and vocal variety. I love the drums and precussion. I love the ambient sounds layered over the synthesizers and other instruments. There's a repetitious vibe that makes it stick but so many other disconnected things happening that it keeps my interest (i.e. singing birds, violins, syncopated shaker, etc.) I'm glad I crossed paths with this album.

I love female vocalists. I love the minimalist instrumentation. I love the breathy whispering but it should not have a hall reverb or doubled lead vocal. I enjoy Lana's voice when it's not over processed. I hate the canned beats and ambiance pads with an intimate song. The song "Dance Till We Die" is probably my favorite but it doesn't save this collection of tunes. This is a producer failure. Lana should get a do over and let Rick Nowels do the whole thing and keep herself and Jack Antonoff out of it.

David Bowie
5/5
This one of my favorite Bowie albums. David Bowie's voice with Robert Fripp's lead guitar and Brian Eno on synthesizer. Tony Visconti as production engineer ties it all together. It may not be solid for everyone but I connected with this album when I was young and it stuck. This album has a personality as it shifts from Fripp to Eno while still remaining all Bowie.

Experimental industrial punk... I love it. I have their second album which is very similar but not as raw. It has the beginning of song structure. This is still great. Trying anything and everything to see works.
