This album is decent. I much preferred The Lyre of Orpheus to Abattoir Blues; the main singer's slam poetry-esque style of mostly talking with a little singing fit the more melancholy style of The Lyre of Orpheus than the more upbeat Abattoir Blues. This singing style grew on me over the course of the album, but I still prefer regular singing over this style. I definitely thing the backup singers and especially the instrumentals carried this album though. 3/5 Favorite song: Easy Money (really exemplifies when this singing style goes right) Worst song: Hiding All Away (really exemplifies when this singing style goes wrong and the instrumental can't carry the song enough)
