Superunknown
Soundgarden
Not an album I would've listened to if it weren't for this site, so I guess that's a good thing right off the bat!
Can't say I'm a big fan of rock music, but I have heard of Soundgarden. Going through the album, some of the songs did feel same-y or generic, but if you think about it that's probably because a fuck ton of groups have imitated this sound afterwards, so it's not really a criticism of the group itself.
Chris Cornell, the lead singer, didn't really strike me as particularly captivating or exceptional, but I still enjoyed listening to him.
Favourite songs would have to be Head Down, Black Hole Sun (this evidently seems to be their most popular song according to Spotify, rightfully so in my opinion).
Overall, 4/5, not my type of music, but I still enjoyed it and had a few songs to add to my personal playlist, not a bad day at all!

Hypocrisy Is The Greatest Luxury
The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
I get that this must've been pretty groundbreaking for 1992 in terms of rap, there's none of the "chains, bitches and money" lines/songs that many casual fans usually attribute to hip hop music. I'm not really sure, however, if that's a good thing, because even though their subject material is still relevant in this day and age, I can't help but cringe a little at the way the songs and vocals come out. "Television is the drug of the nation" okay, that's true I guess? Not sure if I would go around praising someone for pointing that out (although the parallels to smartphones, social media, etc. are pretty interesting)
I almost can't help but feel like this is something that would come out if a politician decided to team up with a rapper to preach about more political problems to the youth. Definitely something that I could see myself having to sit through in class back in high school when the "woke" teacher decided to show this to the young black youth. Maybe political rap just isn't for me(?)
Overall feelings - very good for what it is, probably a 9/10 in terms of political/woke rap, but I'm not a big fan of it personally - if I had to rate it by how likely I am to come back to this or listen to it on the train to university or whatever, this would probably get a 5 or 6.

Either Or
Elliott Smith
Another artist that I have heard of before, but haven't listened to. This site really is one of the reasons why I love the internet!
A couple songs in, I'm really loving the sound of this so far. Kind of mellow, warm, bright-ish lyrics and instrumentals, definitely something I'd listen to just chill out and take it easy.
A lot of songs get kind of depressing when you read into the lyrics. Can't say I can relate with stuff like alcohol addiction all that well, but the way he phrases things and makes you feel is really striking and captivating. I like all of the songs on here so far.
Not sure what else to say about this project, It's got interesting lyrics, that laid back, personal sounding accoustic guitar instrumentals, this warm energy.. I could go on and on, but overall, I really like this, 8/10 definitely!

Parachutes
Coldplay
The first album that I have listened to numerous times! (not front to back though, so this is still interesting)
Beautiful melodies on all the tracks, Chris Martin is also exceptional, I think one of the first time I heard him was on Homecoming from Kanye's Graduation (probably my favourite album of his by the way) and I've definitely been a fan ever since.
I know there are only 10 songs here, but it's crazy how there's not a single bad/mediocre track here, every song's a banger. I love the blissful, happy, mellow energy so much.
In terms of themes/subject matter it's a pretty simple and easy album, but it's not like that's a bad thing. Honestly Chris Martin could probably sing about what he had for breakfast and It would still be good lol.
I've decided to read the lyrics of each song as I'm listening to it, just so I wouldn't miss anything, and that has definitely made me appreciate music more. The heartbreak on "Shiver", running away from your fears and weaknesses on "Spies", etc. The tracks are all beautiful and sad, but kind of hopeful at the same time. It really works really great in my opinion.
I thought I should also mention the album cover, since that's an essential part of a lot of albums. I really like the brown/yellow colour, the warm toned down hue is great and really portrays the feel of the whole album. I'm not really sure what the circle itself is, but that's not super important I guess (looks like a spinning globe of some sort)
I've gotten to Yellow and Trouble, the two songs I've favourited a fair time ago probably. Happy to announce that they're still great and make me feel really great! Can't help but notice that there are a lot of love themed songs here, definitely something I can relate to haha. "For you I'd bleed myself dry" sounds edgy on paper, but comes off really beautifully in the song, awesome songwriting on all the tracks here. Also, "Trouble" is nuts!!!! such a pretty song. "They spun a web for me".
"Everything's not lost" what a beautiful way to end the album. I can definitely see myself coming back to this if I'm feeling down or sad. As I said before, not a single bad or boring track on here; and while it is pretty simplistic I still love and adore it. an easy 9/10 in my opinion (keep in my mind I'm rating all of these in a vacuum, since I haven't listened to any other Coldplay albums front-to-back before).
Favourite songs: actually most of them, but Yellow and Trouble are still my favourites!

Peter Tosh
I don't really have much to say about this one, I'm not a big fan of reggae music, but I can see why this album is a classic.

Not the type of music I'm interested in. An all around good pop-rock album by a New Zealand band.

Marvin Gaye
A classic record, one that I've probably heard a bunch of times just by listening to the radio. I love Marvin Gaye's voice and the timeless melodies here, very happy to revisit this properly!

Lust For Life
Iggy Pop
Another classic that I only heard about here and there. Has a very classic punk vibe, and I loved Bowie on here. A lot of songs that I heard in my childhood here, stuff like "Lust For Life" and "The Passenger". Overall, not my favourite album, or one that I will go back to, but still good in it's own way (it's just not for me really)
