Initial thoughts: it's ok, a little bland. Not sure about the yodelling either. Somehow feels pretentious too. I'm bored now, most songs on this just sound the same - glad it's only 9 songs. "Barbarism Begins at Home" has some really weird yelping/dog bark sounds?? Why??? I have reached the final song and I can't cope with the pretentiousness anymore. Overall: boring album, pretentious, adding yodelling/dog yelps/droning/construction sounds/animal noises to a bland song doesn't make it any more palatable. The album itself is directionless - listening to the songs on shuffle would be equally bland as listening in chronological order I imagine. For me, this album has been an exercise in endurance.

Didn't listen to the whole album, but I really enjoyed the vibes. I love the clarity of the trumpet and definitely want to listen to the full album. Makes excellent background music.

I understand the lyric "let's marvin gaye and get it on" now. I didn't listen to the whole album but the bits I listened to were ok? Fine? Not super memorable apart from my breakthrough with the lyric.

The vibes are immaculate. I love the blend between singing and storytelling, and how everything feels uncomplicated. Every element in the music contributes to the atmosphere, and it feels like adding or subtracting any part of the songs would ruin them. Overall I really love this album so far, and I definitely need to listen to more Leonard Cohen in the future as it's totally up my alley.
