Pavement - listens to Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground once. They sound like they would do heroin just because Lou Reed did. If we had to go through Pavement to inspire some shoegaze bands then fine, but there's other garage rock/alt rock artists of the era who I'd much rather listen to.
Enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Title track is the standout for me, great guitar playing, great vocal and great vibe.
I mean, its an all time classic of all time! The idea behind Buena Vista Social Club was to revive pre-revolutionary music of Cuba, listening to this record definitely paints that landscape.
Beautiful lush arrangements, plays like a prog rock concept record; King Crimson meets The Flaming Lips. Needs more listens to read into the lyrical themes.
