The Blueprint by JAY Z

Had a few good tracks. Didn’t care for the mixing. Wouldn’t listen to again besides maybe 1 or 2 tracks

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman

Very good commentary on racial justice that still applies. Great story telling. Surprise a cappella too so that’s cool. Short ~36min. Would listen to again. Solid 8/10

Chirping Crickets by Buddy Holly & The Crickets

First half: Early Beatles did it better. He does a weird hiccup thing like Elvis sometimes. Second half: much better in terms of style. notable mentions: That'll Be the Day - actually good An Empty Cup - mad lyrics about heartbreak and coca cola Rock me my baby - some HS junior definitely got fingered to this song at some point The early tracks are all PLEASE LOVE ME and the ending tracks are all heartbreak vibes so thats interesting. All in all, nostalgic vibes about young white romance with some harmonized rapey vibes. 4/10. wouldnt listen to the album in its entirety again - maybe those songs mentioned.

Bluesbreakers by John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers

Blues-rock. Not a big fan of the remastering/reproduction available. Eric Clapton has a great blues voice. Another Man - that harmonica is unlisten-able. Unfortunate but the mix just destroyed it. What’d I Say - epic drum solo Have You Heard - some great instrumentals Overall, 4/10. Wouldn’t listen to all the way through again. Had a few good songs but a lot were largely forgettable. Unfortunate mixing too. I didn’t hate listening to it but it wasn’t good either.

The Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground

Rock and influential figure of punk. The band has an interesting story on Wikipedia. Buthowdoesitsounddd?? Good: Sunday Morning - Beautiful. Feels like a good dream ya dig Femme Fatale - I wish the whole album sounded like these two songs I’ll Be Your Mirror - light and breezy like a linen pantsuit Bruh: Heroin - this song is the epitome of this album. something about the pulsating drum heartbeat and the unnerving electric strings work with the vocals and it’s beautiful. Still weird but nice. Then ~5min in, and the guitar is literally screeching like it wants to die. And I want to die too. Wtf happened. Bad: Venus in Furs - really not pleasant to listen to European Son - it’s like they’re playing rock in the garbage disposal Overall:4/10. When it’s good it’s goooood. But when it’s bad it hurts. Will def be adding Sunday and Femme to a playlist

English post punk. Pretty good. The instrumentals are fr fr amazing throughout. The instrumentals get an easy 8.5/10 for me. HOWEVER, add the lead “singer” and it’s a 4/10. The rest of this post is just going to be a rant because of this guy. The lead singer really just pisses me off. The dude’s voice and stupid fake accent was charming for the first track but quickly becomes a gimmick that is hard to ignore. It’s a damn shame because the actual music is soooo good but you can’t hear it because the dude is just talking shit over it the whole time. Like not even singing. Just talking shit. I’m Going to Spain and It’s a Curse are examples of this travesty. Like bro just stfu. Actually it’s just the whole album. He doesn’t shut up. Just sing man, your voice isn’t that bad. So unfortunate man.

Blood And Chocolate by Elvis Costello & The Attractions

It was pretty good. Nothing noticeably bad. Highlights were Home Is Anywhere You Hang Your Head and Blue Chair. Prrrreeeeettttyyyy boring (for me) otherwise. I understand why people would like it. 6/10.

Honestly not bad. The vocals were mixed a little weird at times but I didn't hate it. I probably wouldn't listen to it again all the way through. 5/10. Revelation is definitely the highlight.
