Funeral
Arcade Fire
Fuck me this is literally the last album in the world I want to listen to.
*It was fine, but I have so many other sad bands with a raspy voice I could listen to. If I heard this in 2009, I would love it. Unfortunately, I'm 27 and tired of it.

Southern Rock Opera
Drive-By Truckers
Although they are a pioneer in their landscape of genre bending narative based music, this album comes across way too on the nose. Subtlety was not a word they thought of throughout the writing process. Nothing is left to imagination. It's basically an entire album apologizing for the south, and them saying "but we're not like that". It doesn't do much to explain the situation, give any insight into what this lifestyle looks like, or really anything other than "My version of this isn't everyone's version".
Musically, it was boring as shit. Just another generic rock band from the late 90's

Happy Sad
Tim Buckley
It was cool for what it was, but really run of the mill early 70's psych rock. It wasn't genre defining and he stayed in his box the entire album. Couple of points where he really let loose and it came across well, but few and far apart.
