When I listen to albums in their entirety I expect the album to be a complete, thought out, piece of art and I expect that each song is a standalone piece of art as well. "Once in a Lifetime" is the only track that made me perk up during the listen. Maybe its because I've heard it before. Or maybe the rest of the tracks all sound so familiar to one another that "Once in a Lifetime" just stands out. I can see why people like it. It's a departure from music at the time and experimental. It's deep, and layered, different and provocative. Just not my bag.
There was nothing on this album that stood out to me. I can understand that some people want a band to sound the same throughout an album and over the course of their career. When I'm looking for new music or bands to listen to they have got to get my attention and break out from the noise. Catchy lyrics, interesting arrangements, and experimentation are instrumental to peaking my interest. This did none of that.
Each song sounded like a independent standalone piece of work and lent to the overall sound and mood of the album as a whole. The songs each have their own sound and utilization of compositional devices lend to their individuality. I can see how Steely Dan is an influential as they are.
The Pixies have a sound that is consistent throughout the work I've heard. Bossanova has differing musical elements and devices. The composition ranges from simple to complex with layers of vocals and instrumentation but it's used sparingly throughout each song. The Pixies don't butter my bread but I respect the artistry and the musicianship and can see how they were influential to the 90s grunge/punk/rock scene.
An exciting blend of Rock, Blues, and Folk Music. Each song stands alone as a solitary work of art on it's own but each contributes to the overall emotion and flow of the album. Still not my go to for music but won't deny it's place and influential nature and I very much appreciate and respect Led Zeppelin.
The Wall is an incredible conceptual body of work. There's something for everyone to appreciate on this album. Many hits, fun deep track, all individually contributing to the album in it's entirety.
Fun to listen to. Not my bag and I would pass on this album myself but I can see the allure.
Interesting sound. Not my cup of tea.
Interesting early rock/punk. Might listen to again in the future. Not dying to own this album.
Interesting sound. Topical to the times. Folksy and classic sounds. Fun listen. Not gonna add it to my collection but I see the draw.
Aerosmith has an unmistakable sound and this album show cases it very well. Each song stands alone but contributes to the whole seamlessly. There were more than a handful of times during this album listen that made me perk up and got my attention.
Good album, lots of interesting bits throughout sonically speaking. Fun to listen to. Definitely an influential classic that has help perpetuate the rock scene.
Classic album, classic voice. Not my go to but I see the appeal. I wouldn't mind listening if someone else chose this album.
Great album made popular by it's 3 singles. Fun listen.
Damn good album to chill too. Not my taste but I see the appeal.
