Was excited to listen to this again, it's been years. Production is unreal and Eminems skills are undeniable. However, 97 Bonnie and Clyde is a fucking nightmare of a song. Found it funny and crazy when I was 9, it's beyond wrong now. Ruined my enjoyment of this whole album. Gave up after that.
Loved this. Rush are a band I have never listened to despite being a massive Dream Theater fan and so I wasn't surprised by 2112. Found the storyline to be engaging and the music was great, especially for a three piece (and a session synth player). Liked the twist in the story at the end. Thought the B-side was better, the straight up rock songs and Geddy Lee's vocals were pure old school rock bliss. Never realised how good a singer he is, reminds me of Robert Plant but better. Instruments are all tip top and vocals were ridiculously good. Album sailed by and I loved every minute of it
Lots of great old schoold vibes in the mixing, especially with the hard panning of drums and the nakedness of the acoustic guitars. Rhythms have fallen out of fashion quite a lot which makes them refreshing to hear. Song compositions are also left behind but they have a natural feel to them. Vocals are amazing, lush harmonies and great lead lines
Better of an opener. Backing vocals are the key throughout. Love Cohens baritone voice and how clear it is in every song. Highlight for me is Take This Waltz
Fantastic album, you can see why he went on to do soundtracks etc. Loved the variation of it. Favourites were Hanky Panky Nohow (best song title ever), The Endless Plain of Fortune, Macbeth and Paris 1919. Some really inspiring stuff in there. Highlight was the strings.
Opener is cool - nice mix of electronic and acoustic instruments. Refreshing to listen to something more contemporary too and appreciate the 40+ years of studio improvements in comparison to the first few albums. This opener is a good example of a very comprehensive view of an album too, a real purpose written "opener" Vocal melodies and lyrics in When I Grow Up are crazy and unpredictable. The "Boomerang" bit with the panned noise was class and the lyric about plants were out of nowhere. They're either genius or total nonsense but most importantly, I can't tell. Beats on this album are great, simple but everything that's needed Overall impression: there is a freedom to this writing that's hard to capture. The brother and sister element goes a way to understanding that. The music has aged well too, wouldn't be out of place it released today

Quirky and fun. Liked the vibe of the album throughout. Bit samey after a while but overall an enjoyable listen if not just in the background
Not much to say - an enjoyable listen through, amazing ethereal quality. I didn't mind listening to it but wouldn't be rushing back

I can see why this was popular at time. It's gutsy and energetic. However, I wasn't that into it, not really my cup of tea
First few tracks- quirky, upbeat, very interesting lyrics. More teenage antipathy than angst to the soundtrack of colourful, happy music. Love the instrumentation, the horns especially. Not mad about the singing itself but it works with this style of music. Electronic Renaissance came out of nowhere, reminds me of an Arcade Fire album. Album sort of became featureless after that
First thought; is this Blur? Sounds on this album are cool, guitar tones are crazy and the bass is so dry! Not a big fan of this singing style and some of the songs are over before they've started but it's a good stick it on and let it run album. Very of its time. Not sure it's a top album though
Good album, strange lyrics but loved the music
One he'll of a ride. Instrumentation is doing the heavy lifting here, so tight and and the perfect platform for Bowie to go off. Some album to bow out on
