Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus
Nick Cave & The Bad SeedsRip-roaring opener. A la the opening to 'Baby Driver'. Vocals don't stand super tall on their own, but when aligned with bombastic instrumentals and supporting vocals the sound as a whole elevates. Six songs in, growing on me a TON. Got a rock-opera sound without as much of a focus on the vocals, so maybe almost more like a classic rock record. Something like 'Foxy Shazam' or 'The Protomen', but before 2000. Didn't listen to the back half as closely as the front, some of the elements started to blend together a little bit. Some rock-solid tracks in the list - probably worth a revisit. Don't wanna get into a habit of this, but I think this is a great example of a 3/5.
