I'd imagine this would be great to put on just before heading off across the fjords to aggressively love and pillage. I'm sitting here having a cup of tea wearing a Belle and Sebastien t shirt and I don't think I'm the target markey for Opeth. Some of it is truly great -the drumming, guitaring and general progging is astouding. The growling vocals though take me right out of it.
Horny Hedgehogs - really?
How many Spinal Tap drummers died for this album? Probably 11.
Can't help feeling someone just needed a few more hugs as a kid and we'd be spared this overblown mess of an album.
Interesting choice and quite a relazing album for a sunny afternoon. Didn't mind the length either, there was enough variation to keep in interesting.
I quite like a lot of similar music - Nils Frahm, Olagur Arnalds, felt quite at home with this little gem.
I have Korg Minilogue XD Synthesizer, and the very first preset sound that it has is called 'Replicant xd', becuase it is an emulation of the sound Vangelis designed for this soundtrack. Great fun to play with.
Was happy to get this album, great movie and soundtrack suits it beautifully. It doesn't however standup as an actual album - there's lots of filler and dud tracks (One more kiss, dear). Still iconic.
Did not at all expect to see this on the list. Good Aussie pub rock, but by no means the best example of this underrated genre. "Who listens to the radio" was a staple of on the radio when I was young. Catchy song, this is a fun listen but nothing particularly special.
I really enjoyed the Prefab Sprout album on the 1001, surprisingly good. This is also a fine listen, similar to Barry Adamson in some ways - could be a movie soundtracl.
Sweet Swedish indie pop, liked the band naming story too.
Early Foos are the best Foos. Some cracking songs from when the band was stil breaking new ground. Does veer into a bit too much shouting from Dave, but the man was certainly going through some things at the time. The hits are very good, filler not so much.
This is inoffenive jazz. Don't know if it's good jazz or bad jazz, I was rather unmoved by it all. Admire the skills but can't get excited by it.
Fitting title. Good early punk, don't think it adds anything to the 1001 but it was a fine listen. Recognised Hey Little Girl via a Divynls cover, turns out this version was a cover too.
Once you get past the whole Spinal Tap of it all this was an OK listen. Metal but with decent vocals. Don't want to hear it again, not really my type of music but worth a spin.
Similarities to Moon Safari are fair - but this isn't anywhere near as well crafted. Still a good listen, relaxing vibes but doesn't feel like a 'proper' album, more a selection of songs with different guest singers.
