This album is a user submission, but frankly: I've heard much, much worse among the albums that are on the official list. While the album doesn't blow me away completely, it's something I've missed much too often in the list proper: discovering interesting stuff that was not hyped by the music critics or charts. In that, it succeeds. Well done. 3.5/5
I never could warm-up to Animals, even though I generally admire Pink Floyd. But for me, this just sits between Wish You Were Here and The Wall, without reaching the greatness of either. Today I tried again, with the same result. The album is bookended by Pigs on the Wing 1 and 2, which, while nice enough, do absolutely nothing for me apart from being the album opener/closer. Dogs just chugs along with Waters writing in automatic mode; Sheep is little better. Which leaves Pigs(Three Different Ones). This one, for me, is by far the best track of the album; generating atmosphere and melody absent from all the other tracks. That one I just put on my Liked Songs playlist, but one 11:26 tracks does not an album make. At least not a great one. 3/5
Not sure if I'd picked that particular album, as it sounds like derivative Indie Rock to my ears. The constant gloomy tempo doesn't help. But to each their own. As for me .... 2.5/5
Not bad, but nothing that would warrant the inclusion of this particular album to this list. But different strokes, right? 2.5/5
This record screams "Hey, this is ART!" - it's quite self-indulgent. The music, does nothing for me, and Dawson's singing voice is really annoying. I guess the whole thing is not for me. 2/5
Fun in small doses, decidedly Japanese, but ultimately not really my kind of Metal music. 3/5
I always enjoy a good Prog Rock/Metal album, but this is a little too bland for my taste. As in: I see what they're trying to do, but most of the songs just aren't that memorable. Listening was not a waste of time by any means, but for me, the record chugs along without any real emotional highs or lows. So it's ... nice, but I fail to get any more enjoyment from it. 2.5/5
This is one of the better Punk albums I have listened to in the course of this list. Unlike many other Punk projects, this band really has talent, can play their instruments and sing. The Hardcore vibe is a welcome plus. Alas, it's still not a favourite genre of mine, but don't let that keep you from trying it yourself. 3/5
A surprisingly solid, yet somehow eclectic mix of of Rock/Metal/Punk. How much you enjoy this album depends of your genre preference relative to the distribution of these genres across the album; for me it was at least above average. 3.5/5
