I can appreciate the lyrics, the message, and the anger in these songs. My personal preference is just different from what Metallica and the metal genre as a whole is selling. Also, I believe that this is a feature of metal, but I cannot get behind multiple songs being close to 10 minutes in length.
Can’t really say anything special about this album. Could be good to use for sampling though
Sadly, I couldn’t get into it.
This album is a real fun listen. I love the jazz and big band elements mixed with the Afrobeat
Wasn’t too remarkable although Lovefool is a standout for me.
I have to commend the band backing the singer. They’re doing amazing with this jazzy rock sound. The singer, however, is fully ruining all the songs with his crying voice. He sounds like the cowardly lion on every song. I can see why the band has a high turnover rate because they are way too good for him. I would give 5 stars if the singing was better because I really like the music besides that.
I know Bowie is always kinda experimental, but I don’t think this is a good introduction to him. Maybe if I was a long time fan, I could enjoy it. But it’s just too dreary for me, and I don’t have an emotional connection with Bowie for the dreariness to work for me.
