I immediately recognized the first song, even though I've never heard of the artist or album. I enjoy the downtempo vibes and slow grooves. My head was nodding along to the easy beats and I can definitely see myself coming back to this for easy, instrumental listening during work. Loved this!
I have an appreciation for this one. I can hear in this where artists like Andrew Bird and Arcade Fire found influences. Two or three of the songs grabbed my attention, but the rest passed under my radar and would probably be better appreciated by someone more into singer songwriter albums. Interesting to hear more work by the writer of the famous “Hallelujah” regardless. Probably a 2.5 or 3 from me, and not likely something I’d revisit.
This was a fun listen! I can hear so many influences for current bands like The Decemberists and so many others. A good number of the songs jumped out to me and were super enjoyable. I’ll come back this in the future for sure.
This is the first band I’m VERY familiar with. Absolutely love Foo Fighters. Awesome to listen through the origins here. Dave Grohl is a genius and has been slapping since the beginning. So many bangers in here for me.
I had no idea who this was but recognized almost every song. I have even played some of these songs in different bands I’ve been in. Wild. I can see how this would have been mind blowing back in the 60’s.
I genuinely enjoyed the funk and groove in this album. There was enough to keep me interested and excited to come back for more. The first track is odd with the slurred vocals, but the rest of it really slaps.
Fantastic album. A fun ride and a great concept. Loved discovering this one.
It took me 5 songs to realize this is the guy from the Pixies. Overall enjoyable, but super long. Not my taste for all of it but some of it really jams.
I absolutely loved this. A dance party the whole time and the perfect thing to blast when you’re ready to move.
