3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Sep 08 2022

In the middle of my second play through now. Stream of consciousness first impressions - Pretty solid album - Obviously sounds a little dated being over 30 years old but holds up - Enjoy most of the songs and not wanting to skip any - Windows down cruising music or background bbq music - Some pretty good use of samples and a lot of them are recognizable, not altered that much I’m leaning 3/5 right now, solid album and can see how it had an impact at the time. Probably not adding to my main rotation

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Sep 09 2022

A stunning debut album from an incredible talent. Lyrically I don't think there is a lot that I can personally relate to in the album. I am not a woman and I have never actually gone through a nasty breakup. If I did check those boxes this would be an all time banger of an album to listen to as I got over a broken heart. Musically it is pretty incredible. I've never been a massive piano head but it is amazing how Fiona Apple manages to keep the piano the star of the show even as she has many different feels and types of music arranged on top of it all. 4/5

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Sep 12 2022

Very good, the album that hung a million Smiths posters in the rooms of Boyle Heights teenagers! Favorite song: There is a light that never goes out, obviously!
