This is a complicated record for Metallica. It hits just as hard as there first three albums, but it's the first without their original bassist. It's the first the album with a new bassist who they neglect because the album is infamous in that there is no bass in the mix. I would say this album is the black sheep in the bands first four albums, the classic thrash period, for the band. The band tries to tackle politcal concepts that maybe profound to some but may seem illconcived to others.
