- smile please has a really cool vibe, very relaxed but groovy beat - vocals remind me of someone i cant think of - Heaven is a zillion has the coolest vibe as well - backing vocals are really sick - the coolest gospel music i’ve ever heard - too shy to say isnt really my style but i appreciate the vocals still - lyrics are simplistic but beautiful - boogie on reggae woman wasn’t much of a stand out - creepin very laid back i like it - really simple music but groovy as - completely different as to what i though stevie’s music would be like - you haven’t done nothing is cool, one of my favs ota so far - it ain’t no use takes my number one spot atm sickest vocals and vibe - i feel like it would be samples by like tyler the creator or something or maybe kanye - they won’t go when i go is very good - OH SHIT WAIT ITS RLY ELY GOOD - WOW ITS SO POWERFUL - ok very different vibe then the rest of the album but by far one of the best - bird of beauty is unique in lyrics to the rest of the album, it is a lot less direct speaking more poetic, sven in spanish - the most feel good so far - please don’t go is the perfect wrap up to the album, doesn’t introduce much new but highlights the best qualities of the album - really impressed, didn’t expect how upbeat this album would be, i underestimated stevie’s range. Sick vibe very feel good but also powerful, simple but effective, solid 4/5

This album is very cool, many songs are really similar but the band knows what works for them. They have a very particular range which doesn’t offer much excitement or change but is easy listening. The drums to me are a stand out on this album, especially on songs like Hospital and the breakdown in RoadRunner with a big use of high hats. I really enjoy the way this album is song, it’s as if they recorded it from the live performance in front of an audience, it doesn’t sounds scripted instead really natural. Jonathan Richmans voice is quite unique, very accented, reminds me of Joey or Dee Dee Ramone. It seems to me as if this band can only create two different style songs. Either very fast pace with a cool rhythm, or slowed down with nothing much but a simple drum beat. The Modern Lovers didn’t venture much music wise, they stayed in their lane. After reading a few reviews it is now clearer to me this bands style and i can appreciate their choices more. Although it’s a groovy easy listening album, I did get quite bored easily with its repetitiveness. Their style encaptures an awkward angst-ridden adolescent sound paired with a stripped down rock and roll. that’s how it is described in a cool article i found

i just wrote notes which deleted again but rly likes this album. chill vibe with a few standout songs. some got pretty repetitive but still enjoyed, only got through half the album tho cause i had no time.

I thoroughly enjoyed this album, it is quite different from the type of music i usually listen to, but i liked the different vibe. This album has a unique acoustic sound which is sometimes paired with a melancholy piano. The only way I can describe Nick Drake’s voice is a mixture of Jeff Buckley and Van Morrison, with the lyrical skills of Jim Morrison.
