Reminds me of something I would listen to if I wanted to entertain Elise's parents. Definitely will listen again. Some happy songs, some sad songs. It's a nice mix. Definitely dad rock though, but that's not a bad thing. The vibe reminds me of that song 'The Weight' by The Band.
Generic rock that is probably listened to by white guys who can't satisfy their girlfriend. This was probably great during its peak, but the type of people who listen to this in 2022 are insufferable hipsters. Drums are groovy though.
Great album with memorable moments. Classic title, of course. Makes me wanna listen to some Blue Oyster Cult for some reason. Solid.
I like the Talking Heads, but this album was so uninteresting and homogeneous. It felt like it all blended together (and I did 1.5 listens). This isn't necessarily a bad quality though. That makes the album very easy to listen to when working.
The music is groovy and mostly stays out of the way. Not super interesting, but I'd listen again.
Wavy as hell. If this were ice cream, the flavor would be cotton candy. If it were a drink, it would probably be strawberry milk.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I FUCKING LOVE METALLICA SO THIS REVIEW IS HEAVILY BIASED.
Lars is a fucking BEAST on the drums as usual. This album has a lot of emotion because they released it only 2 years after Cliff died (original bassist). Will have to listen to this the next time I'm on a run & doing sprints. I have nothing bad to say about this album.
I also like Kill Em All (86') and this is a crazy good follow up. Usually artists have a sophomore slump after a critically acclaimed first album, but these guys did their fucking thing. And that's why they're legends.
I feel like I would need an 8ball and a felony conviction to fully enjoy this album. I love SOAD’s later albums like Mesmerize and Toxicity (classic), but this album was a bit much.
I also listened to it while I was super tired and driving home at night. I’ll listen again soon and I might be a bit more into it. I’ve been a SOAD fan for years though.
Country club rock. Groovy, classy, enjoyable, and suited for all ages. I recommend sipping a Michelob Ultra while you listen.
I don’t like it. A lot of people do, but I don’t.
Very.... uninteresting. But enjoyable. Another album that would be great background music in a Macy's. I don't have anything bad to say about this album. I know my reviews have been pretty shallow, but I think that's because I have more interests in the more experimental subgenres of rock. Either way, this was a solid listen.
I like this album. Reminds me of something I would listen to while walking in nature. Some trippy tracks on here, but they were all groovy enough to be consumable in a lot of environments. Would listen to again.
Amazing. Classic. Anyone that's into music enough to be on this site knows what this album is about, so I feel like I don't need to explain anything about it tbh. 5 stars.
Janis probably had some good pussy back in her prime. I'm talking sloppy blowjobs before OnlyFans made them popular. Seems like the type of chick who would get drunk and start swinging though. Either way, she was a nice piece of ass by any measure... God rest her soul.
Also the album was chill.
Napoleon Dynamite soundtrack contender #5
I can almost smell my grandmother's cooking when I listen to this album. I've heard all of these songs 10,000 times just by simply growing up around my family and being black, really.
Initially, I didn't want to give this album 5 stars because this isn't something I regularly come and listen to, but then again, I never NEED to come find this album to hear it throughout the year.
You'll kinda just hear these songs everywhere as long as you exist on planet earth and don't live under a rock.
Earth, Wind & Fire is a ubiquitous part of world musical culture.
Chill listen. Nothing really stood out to me. Heavy surf rock influenced, which is cool. Seems like this is more of a summer album. I could see myself revisiting this on a beach day with a few Landsharks.
With that being said, I'm usually not too crazy about albums that seem "situational". Decent album though, don't get me wrong. I feel like I would enjoy this more if I was into stuff like Pet Sounds.
Groovy, but I can see why people hate on rush so much. Probably won't come back to this, but I wasn't ever hoping it would be "over already" like I have with other albums.
Groovy and creative as always. Herbie is the man. The end of watermelon man was a tad bit annoying though, I can't even lie - The flutes were kinda overused. But what do I know? I'm not a legendary Jazz fusion composer. 4 stars though. Would listen again.
This was the rock that Fez from that 70s show listened to with his foster parents when Eric, Donna, Kelso, Jackie, and Hyde weren’t around.
Awesome. I usually don’t even like Jazz, but this was nice.
I liked this a lot. High quality electronic shit from the 90s. Mixing and shit has the same texture and feel of Dummy by Portishead. Added something from this album to a playlist I’m working on. Not 5 stars, but a solid listen.
Something annoying about listening to a white man sing the blues, but this album isn’t bad from a songwriting/production standpoint.
This is great. Kinda reminded me of a less funky version of the Average White Band. The second half (live album) was really nice too. 'Freedom Rider' is smooth & the acoustic guitar work on the title track is cool as hell.
I didn't really like this album. Very very 90s sound. I fuck with Mef when it comes to his ambition and his acting, especially. Idk, I just couldn't connect with this.
I think this is one of those "you had to be there" albums. Mef put this out when the Wu was on top of the world, and I think that's an important contextual detail when analyzing this album (36 Chambers Dropped a year before Tical)
Damn this album is smooth as hell. Classic, of course. But Marvin was a next level talent. RIP to a legend.
Evil. Thick. Heavy. Dissonant at times. What else can I say? You know what time it is.
Great album. I don't know what else to say honestly. All of these songs are so well known. Kurt somehow sounds better on the live album vs Nevermind.
