The College Dropout by Kanye West
Jan 02 2023

A surprise for sure. Was not expecting to be wowed by this album — especially considering the recent actions of West — but this album really impressed me. It gave me mental whiplash trying to reconcile the themes and quality of the music in this album from ‘04 with how he speaks and acts nowadays. The beats had me bompin while on my walk to listen through this and I was surprised at the themes present in this album which feels wild bc I’d never actually listened to any of his music before and certainly wasn’t planning on it before committing to listening to every album on this list. Still. He sucks ass as human now and that’s a fact. Antisemitic, egotistical nazi man does not have any respect from me and I was able to find a way to listen to this without giving any money or engagement to this fuck. Never really listened to a whole lot of rap before. My knowledge of the genre is sadly pretty limited. Hope i can find more like this, by better people

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Jan 03 2023

* 3/7. Thought the instrumentation was good. The synth bopped and the bass lines were crunchy. Couldn’t really get over the quality of Costello’s voice though. Not a huge fan of that whiney sort of tone and diction — half the time I couldn’t understand what he was saying — so his lyrics were somewhat lost to me. Still, a few tracks had me bompin and honestly it wasn’t a bad album to black out and walk to. Don’t think I’ll be coming back to this one though.

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Jan 04 2023

Super bompin album. Listening to it felt nostalgic and the music gave me a great sense of melancholy. The instrumentation was bangin and the vocals hit a sweet spot between gnarly and melodic.

The Slider by T. Rex
Jan 05 2023

Not my jam. Ended up feeling bored and the sound got monotonous by the end. Everything felt very repetitive and normally that’s not a problem for me but this one just didn’t juve with me. Dull but otherwise inoffensive.

Boston by Boston
