Coldplay’s debut album to kick off the year. The perfect choice as it felt nostalgic to come back to this band given my early fandom with them. An excellent, emotive album from top to bottom.
Leonard Cohen is a name I’ve always heard but truthfully never really explored until today, and wow. I get it. It hit me from the start and carried the whole way through. Very poignant lyrics.
I’d never heard of this band before today and well… I can see why. I consider myself pretty open-minded when it comes to music but with that being said, electronic just isn’t for me. It wasn’t bad, but I just wasn’t feeling it. I have to be in a club or out somewhere to feel this vibe, and even then it may not happen.
The title track of this album is the song I listened to over and over when I first heard that David Bowie died. An awful day for the world. But yes, while it may not be his greatest ever, it’s still excellent piece of work from David. Definitely an album you have to listen to in one go to fully appreciate.
Another classic from David Bowie, this one preceding Heroes. So much experimentation here with the synths, percussion and overall ambience of the sound but he hit the mark in what he was trying to express. I couldn’t help but to immerse myself in the music.
What can I possibly say about this album that hasn’t already been said. This concept album forces me to ponder my very existence in this world. Track by track, I am taken on an introspective journey that truly resonates with me deep in my soul. Definitely one of the greatest albums in the history of music.
One of my favorite Stones albums! You can’t go wrong here. Some tracks stick out more than others but still a great rock ‘n’ roll listen from top to bottom.
I’d never heard of this band before, but I have to say I enjoyed what I heard. Wasn’t a slog to get through which is the case sometimes when listening to an album of a band you don’t know. While I’m a more direct rock ‘n’ roll type chick I liked this alt side to it.
Very fun album to listen to. The music had a mix of jazz, honkey tonk country with a punk edge to it especially helped by some of the lyrics, which were also great with real world themes.
I like the concepts this album tackled. Definitely edgy especially for the time. It was a little long though and while I do enjoy the tenor saxophone in my reggae music, it just felt repetitive as time went on. Which is fine because it was good, but I need more of a switch-up musically. Decent album overall.
