I've listened to a lot of these songs but never listened to the album front-to-back. The first few songs are classics. This album definitely has a consistent sound. Some of these songs are just straight up annoying though. Jocko Homo and Too Much Paranoias sound like they would be way more fun live but on an album I'm just wondering why I would subject myself to this. The album picks back up with Come Back Jonee and Gut Feeling. All in all, it's okay. I get that it was different at the time, but it isn't super enjoyable to listen to now.

Different Class by Pulp

Listening to this with cruddy headphones on the bus so it sounds a little more lo fi than it probably should. Two songs in and it sounds like pavement had a baby w itith orange juice. Common people feels like it's meant to be an anthem. Never heard it before though. I spy... "Have you heard of this nine inch nails band? Let's try that but less of a bummer"

Pretenders by Pretenders

Very into this. Was not expecting so much punk feel. Then it slows down a little. Then there it is. I'm special. So special

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson

I wrote a bunch of stuff and forgot to save. First two songs are big hits. Love em. Some of the others just smack of seventies with no real hook. The percussion on the upbeat songs on this album is so dope though

The Contino Sessions by Death In Vegas

Soul auctioneer... Somebody listened to highway 61 recently I guess. I liked this album a lot more than I probably should. I have a real soft spot for this late nineties electronica or whatever genre you would call this

Really dig this album. I've heard a handful of songs but never listened to it all the way through. A few songs are a little yelly but for the most part it's great. Weird to think how this fit with grunge going on at the time but still sounds super different. Can hear the influence from this in a ton of other stuff

The Blueprint by JAY Z

How are you gonna have biz markie, q tip, and slick Rick on a song and make them just go the hook? Man 2001 Eminem was awesome

This album made me physically ill to listen to. It's genuinely off-putting. By the time you get to ab/7a you're relieved to hear a little bit of a melody. That's probably because the first half of the album just assaults you with dissonance. I appreciate that this was probably technically harder to accomplish in an analog world but I still hate it.

Fulfillingness' First Finale by Stevie Wonder

Wow. Pedal steel in the slow song. I need to listen to some more Stevie wonder deep cuts. Great album

The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
Feb 10 2023

Ugh. This is some early 2000s stuff for sure. Who was like this is the best Springsteen album everyone needs to listen to. It's melancholy dad rock. Worlds apart got some real world music percussion going on. Real dumb. Here comes a song that sounds like Christmas. Thanks Bruce. It's like he heard generic inspirational music at the beginning of a conference and was like I need to get into that. My city of ruin is just days like this with different words. I hope Van Morrison had words with Bruce. Spotify went straight into the pogues after this album finished and I was ready to believe it was more terrible Bruce until the singing started.
