1001 Albums Summary

Reggae is not the genre I’m used to. On the first listen, I didn’t really enjoy it, felt a bit repetitive, but also different, since it’s so far from what I normally enjoy. But after listening to it again, it kind of grew on me, definitely a feel-good type of music, I can see why others might enjoy it. Wouldn’t listen to the full album again, but there were some slightly more memorable songs: Natural Mystic, So Much Things To Say, Exodus, Waiting In Vain, Turn Your Lights Down. My favorite track was probably Waiting In Vain. Overall, not sure if Bob Marley is my thing, but I’m curious to listen to more Reggae. Probably won’t come back to this album, might listen to some songs on the occasion though.

Could not finish, just so not my thing. Felt like I was in an adventure, medieval video game, completing a quest somewhere in a pub or a tavern, where a bunch of fat, angry, red-headed men are drinking beer and burping. Not a fan. Fairytale of New York was a bit more manageable to listen to. I guess Kirsty MacColl was the slightly redeeming part.

Would have definitely enjoyed it more during my Panic! At the Disco phase. It’s fun to listen to and I liked some of the songs, but a lot of them are way too long for no reason. BJ’s voice is a bit too overwhelming for me. Will probably listen to some songs separately, when I’m in a mood for some teenage angst.
