jump jive and wail was a Brian Setzer Orchestra Gap ad in late 90s
i saw them open for Dylan in 99
an explosion of pure joy when i was feeling less than joyous. I will play this, if I'm ever happy again.

Bridge Over Troubled Water
Simon & Garfunkel
this is some grandparents shit. and its fucking great. Title track is gorgeous, of course. I only know the hits. Are the album tracks good? Probably. ...
yes.
and Cecilia is great. Love the beat. One of my fave S&G tunes
they love a good architect. Good for them.
and a good Boxer. a Classic of course
i've always thought that honking sound was annoying. like Donald Duck having a fit in the studio. Still a great song.
why was i not hip to the joy bomb that is \"Baby Driver\". Was it not on my greatest hits. Have i always been a joyless funk?
Only Living Boy in NY is gorgeous as well.
\"Why Don't You Write Me\"-ok this one isnt my favorite. at all.
Quite an enjoyable listen. These are some fine tunes.

The Flaming Lips
One of the best albums ever made. College student 1999. Music was getting weird. Not in a good way. i wanted weird goddammit. I also wanted great songs and production.
I was familiar withy Flaming Lips. They had the fluke hit a few years earlier. I bought that album and enjoyed it, but never explored much further. Wacky psychedelic guitar rock.
So this really caught me by surprise. It doesn't even have much guitar at all.
Race For The Prize- an all time great album opener and mission statement. They have opened every show I've seen them do with this song.
A Spoonful Weighs a Ton-I always see Teletubbies when I hear this. Their video screen was star of the show at Canopy Club Urbana (Sparklehorse opened!)
The Spark That Bled-fake blood. Mortality. Big theme on this drugged out masterpiece of an album.

London Calling
The Clash
Excellent choice. Iconic from the start. The cover art. Elvis font with Paul smashing a bass. It kicks you in the junk, songs and punk.
Punk always had songs. But these mean something else. These are deep. Doesn't hurt that they have constant melodic hooks throughout.
and piss. and vinegar.
So many good songs.
I was 3 when this came out. I wouldn't hear it for a long time.
Had an older neighbor from the west coast. He had a meticulous cd collection in his shitty kitchen (it was the exact same kitchen as mine. Those townhouses were shit.)
He was 7 ft tall and had hair the color of a tennis ball. Saw The Clash with The Who in the early 80s. He loaned me all of their cds. I put them on my ipod. Yes, it was 2003ish. London Calling was the best one.
faves-"Clampdown" "Rudy Cant Fail, "Train In Vain" "Lost In The Supermarket"
Five stars

The Man Who
Travis
beautiful sounding rainy day Sad basterd brit- POP. It rains alot. Especially on me. So this is perfect today.
Is it cliche to say this Radiohead if they took the blue pill and fired their weird noisy guitar player? Or Coldplay minus the pop insufferability?
"Turn" is anthemic and britpopguitary
"Why Does It Always Rain On me?": Gorgeous song, and the only one I know. A KD CMJ comp classic. It's that chord progression. D-AM
that was an unassuming and pleasant experience....oh wait...a secret track!
Feedback and dark acoustic tune...turned slow rocker.. Nothing goofy.
