The Pleasure Principle by Gary Numan

On first listen I like it but don’t love it. Love the synthy electronic style and the production but the songs themselves aren’t very interesting.

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Mar 03 2023

feels dated. kind of novelty song vibe. some of it is fun, some is a bit much. would probably be fun as hell live. I can't see listening to this album again, but I would definitely put a couple of songs on a playlist.

The Age Of The Understatement by The Last Shadow Puppets
Mar 04 2023

Never heard of this band at all. Sixties, James Bond-ish vibe. I’d listen to this again.

Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
Mar 05 2023

So good. I need to listen to more Nina Simone.

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
Jan 14 2026

From 1971. I know that this is a classic influential album but I have never listened to it. I’m familar with later Parliament-Funkadelic, but never listened to the earlier Funkadelic incarnation. Never heard this on top 40 radio, nor was this ever played on late-70s AOR. I like this a lot! Sound is more slow-bluesy than I was expecting. Just solidly fits in with the 70s funk that I am familiar with. Opening track is amazing. Closing track is … challenging.

Power In Numbers by Jurassic 5
Jan 15 2026

Started strong — i liked the first few songs a lot but my interest flagged toward the end. I might re-listen to some of the songs.

Jan 16 2026

I like some ambient and don’t hate techno, but this is not working for me. Songs are either forgettable or annoying. Too distracting to be background music, but too annoying to listen to in the foreground.

C'est Chic by CHIC
Jan 17 2026

Love the hits — Le Freak and I Want Your Love, but found the rest a bit dull.

Rubber Soul by Beatles
Jan 18 2026

How do you review the Beatles? Their songs are like air, or water. They are just there. I’ll give this a 4 because there are other Beatles albums I like better, but this still sounds enjoyable and fresh, 61 years later!

The Pleasure Principle by Gary Numan

On first listen I like it but don’t love it. Love the synthy electronic style and the production but the songs themselves aren’t very interesting.
