C'est Chic is the second studio album by American R&B band Chic, released on Atlantic Records in 1978.
WikipediaAmazing. I’m ashamed to say that I’ve owned this for like 7 years, and I have somehow never listened to it front to back. This is what I imagine heaven sounds like. On the B side, I stood up on three separate occasions b/c I thought that the song was so good, that it must be their grand finale. Every time there was an even better song waiting in the wings
“C’est Chic” by Chic (1978) R&B/early disco, with lyrics basically consisting of “I want you, baby; Let’s dance!” and other inane dance club pickup lines. But the music is very well done, if you can get past the New York City Club 54 pretentiousness. Excellent lilting bass and feathery guitar, if somewhat excessively repetitive. “Savoir Faire” displays some nice rhythmic variations, and fine jazz lead guitar solo. This track is really the highlight of the album. This album makes me want to dance, but it’s 5:37am, and I got nobody. Overall, good. 3/5
Can't deny the instrumentation is good and there's obviously a few classics but every song also felt like it was 10 minutes too long.
Classic disco album, great for getting up and dancing to and singing along to.
Meh. Disco doesn't bother me but it's not usually very memorable, either.
Good dance album, not really much going for it other than that. A lot of the songs tend to drag on and are pretty one dimensional. My least favorite of the albums I've listened to so far. Favorite Tracks: Happy Man, Sometimes You Win
Yasssss bitch C'est chic la Disco. Ca groove en sequin dress dans la cuisine!!!
Excellent funky disco. No skippers on the album, just good danceable vibes.
One of the few albums on this list that I’ve felt compelled to listen to twice in a row. A great disco album altogether, though it could benefit from slightly more experimentation or variation. 9
Glamuroso y majestuoso, el funky más elegante del mundo. Arreglos con estilo que suenan actuales aún y Nile Rodgers sublimando la guitarra. Espectacular
Soft musical vocals with clean acoustic music are an amazing fusion for relaxation.
If I didn't give this album five stars, you would know I had been kidnapped and forced to give a different vote. I sometimes like to play Chic or edits of Chic in my dj sets and the impact they have had on disco with this album is insane. I have had the pleasure of seeing them live, and I will say this listen brought back happy memories. Thank you Rodgers and Edwards
The aesthetic of this album is so beautiful. It has a rich old-school sound that is just timeless. Definitely will be relistening.
Classic disco and funk from CHIC, nothing more to say than every song is fantastic
A funky and fun listen. Everybody has heard le freak before. Favourite track is savoir faire for sure, that guitar is fantastic.
Oh ho ho ho ho. Oi oi. Oh la la. Feel the sex running through your thighs.
Majestic. From Nile Rodgers' signature guitar riffs glittering all over the show, to the funky driving basslines, this is one of THE disco classic albums.
Great band of the '70. If you like this youd like earth wind & fire, Commodores, Koll & the gang
You gotta love this. If you love disco as much as I do. It's like it never ages. "Le Freak" and "I Want Your Love" are still found on party playlists in 2022 and it doesen't feel out of place at all. Love this stuff. This stuff I hadn't heard was great too.
So smooth and enjoyable to listen to. Love the way each track builds the elements.
Let’s Gooooo! This is a party. Sexy, danceable, smooth, fun. Even the slow jams were good.
The is everything I want in a pop album. Fresh, funky and catchy as f#@k. Nice knew what he was doing.
If I were at a party, I wouldn't mind if this album played for five hours straight. Listening to it at home does not feel like the proper setup, but still, it makes me wonder what would be of music as we know it today if it weren't for Nile Rodgers. Overall good, but gets a bump up for being so influential.
Chic Cheer is a bold start Savoir Faire is an incredible instrumental jam Bangers: Le Freak, I Want Your Love, and Sometimes You Win 20+ musicians on this album all just nailin the vibe Nile Rodgers is a legend At Last I am Free is beautiful and amazing Sneaky Luther Vandross No skips
If every R'n'B album would be like 'C'est Chic', then I would be the biggest fan ever of the genre. I am honestly in love with the bass line, the groovy rhythm and the wonderful vocals, rounding up the whole experience into an ultimate party. I think this is the first time I am essentially speechless, beacuse of how much this album surprised me. It's really hard to pinpoint any low moments on the album. There are two groups, that you can divide the songs into: - great songs - wonderful songs. The best way to describe how much I liked it - vinyl is on the way. Most deserved 5 stars yet.
5 Fun fact about me: I’m a bigger disco fan than I let on. There’s something about the cliché guitar patterns and orchestras and funnnnky bass lines that I love. This would be workout music for me, if I was the type of person that took proper care of themselves. It’s uptempo, it’s iconic, and so sleek and cool. The songs run a little long but even then I couldn’t stop dancing. I was prepared to listen for as long as it would go. I can just imagine myself doing chores listening to this album and having an absolute blast. I definitely didn’t care for the repeated overuse of the band name as lyrics, I’ve always found that lame no matter who does it. The tender but skillful instrumentals were a welcome surprise too. All in all this was a really fun listen that I will absolutely listen to again. Favorites: Chic Cheer, Le Freak, Savior Faire, Happy Man, Sometimes You Win,(Funny) Bone
Okay. So, apparently everything Nile Rodgers touches turns to gold. That guitar sound! Wow.
this was my introduction to chic — i found it really fun! lots of great instrumentation, i didn’t really focus on the lyrics so i don’t know what those say.
Was gonna go 4.5 and then listened to 'I Want Your Love' again in my car at top volume on my way to work. 5
Chic struck gold with their 2nd record. So groovy and funky and a great representation of the way music was moving at the time. Right at the peak of Disco but the record still has a lot of R&B and Funk, so much so that the genre title of disco seems to be a product of the year it was released. The whole record really makes you want to get up and dance along and at no point does it ever drag. Such a fun record. Favorite Track: Le Freak, I Want Your Love Least Favorite Track: Savoir Faire
This has been a favorite of mine for a very, very long time. Still, it’s illuminating to listen to it with fresh ears today from start to finish. They didn’t have to ask for the favor in Chic Cheer: “If you don’t mind, would ya, please? Get up off of your seat and repeat Chic Chic Chic Chic Chic Chic…” I’m way ahead of you. When I put this on the headphones I floated away on disco clouds powered by groovy guitars, cool bass lines, glittering pianos and gorgeous vocal harmonies. C’est Chic is perfection. I could stay here all week.
I love being able to identify a band by its bass player. This is good good fun. Danceable and soulful and a punch of nostalgia. Just great.
C’est Chic was an absolute vibe, whole album is great. Favorite might be Happy Man.
Big groove, also most of these song were remixed in disco house songs and I love it. 4.5 / 5
Really cool. Made me stand up and dance on several occasions. Actually made me bake as well.
Ultimate party album to keep things moving in the right direction. Don't even mind some of the long track run times
This album has so many bangers that it’s a shame everyone only puts Le Freak on repeat.
11/18/20 Chic. Standout Tracks: Chic Cheer, Savoir Faire, Sometimes You Win, (Funny) Bone
część utworów znane mi wcześniej dobre wspomnienia z le freak i i want your love, instrumentale też bardzo dobre podobnie jak pozostałe utwory. ale za bangerzy 4 się należy totalnie
Some iconic moments in here. More jazzy and soulful than I was expecting. A little too much filler to get 5 stars though.
Best disco album of all time? Love the bass and guitar playing. Robert Wyatt's cover of "At Last I Am Free" is one of my favorite covers of all time so of course I love the original as well.
These people sound fun. Do I actually like disco? wtf... Le Freak -- there's the radio banger. And what's this jazz interlude???
