A Love Supreme
John Coltranenot familiar enough with jazz as a genre to like, dissect the album and highlight specific things that are good about it, but i found the whole thing atmospheric and lively, just generally enjoyed it

at this point in music history bands that were influenced by sex pistols just grew into something so much bigger than the band at root, i can't really think of nevermind the bollocks as like, an album people casually listen to.. the mythology surrounding the album and the band ultimately pushed the music itself to the background imo. it's alright, but musically it's not super exciting, at least in 2023 when so many of it's derivative works built around it something more interesting for me personally
i enjoyed it! an album i would listen to while taking a walk in the park on some summer afternoon or something.. it's like a restaurant background music but in a good way. -1 star because didn't really like the guy's voice, which kinda takes significant portion of enjoyment out of one person record
second folk/singer-songwriter album in a row huh.. i feel almost guilty for give it 3 stars but i guess i'm just not the biggest "single acoustic guitar and a guy" kind of music person i'm sorry women... like i didn't think it was bad but maybe i should give it a second listen at some point to get the simplicity of it, maybe it's a question of the right mood and place. also i was surprised by how short it is? and this album cover goes so hard
MY BABYGIRL..... DEPECHE MODE ALBUM.... music for the masses isn't even my fave 80s record of theirs, so giving a listen to the full thing for the first for a while was interesting!! the thing about music for the masses is that it is very easy to forget how weird the whole thing actually sounds? like yes it has some of dm's most popular singles like strangelove and never let me down again and because of that you kinda overlook the fact that there's still horals and long synth instrumental tracks and weird samples.. at least that's how i perceive it! very.. spacious record i'd say. i kinda view it through my violator bias and on one hand mftm feels less consistent? in it's sound, like the listening experience isn't as tight as on violator, it doesn't feel like one big 50min soundscape, but on the other hand it has a lot of room to breathe and instrumentals overall feel a bit more raw in a good way. little 15 is a good example of that imo, one of my favorite dm instrumentals overall actually i wanted to say more but forgor to make notes on other thoughts i had 😭 but you probably don't need my ramblings to know that music for the masses is great skskdndksks ANYWAY strangelove is the song of all time my #1 pick to sing along like my life depends on it. literally i give in to sin because i like to practice what i preach!!!!!!!!
this is how i imagine daft punk sound lol. i kinda wish i liked it better? would dance to if given a chance + i love works that are heavy on sampling but idk if i would return to it later. maybe i'm just allergic to french electronic music. I'll rate it 3 but it's like 3,7 to me
i mean. yes it's influential I'll give the credit when it's due and yes it's pretty much unlistenable. and i have rather high tolerance for music that is just sound collage of someone's grandma talking over construction site sounds, it's just not even interesting in that aspect. i assume that tg's stuff just doesn't work as an album on streaming, i think the performance aspect of it all is what resonated with people sparked inspiration in industrial acts that came after them and build on it's foundations. curious to hear once but listen to one tg album and you've heard it all etc. it's not an album you listen to on regular basis and like that probably wasn't the intent anyway
it's okay they even say that in the title 👍 climbing up the walls remains my favorite song of it and probably my favorite radiohead song period, i rarely hear people mention it even when discussing the whole album which is a shame! such atmospheric and creepy deep cut. oknotok anniversary release also includes man of war, another favorite of mine, even if it's technically isnt really an ok computer song. unrelated to music but ok computer has such distinct and cool visuals (cover art for singles and the album etc), glad they continued to collaborate stanley donwood after that
didn't like his voice at the start but it grew on me as the record progressed, paired with lyrical content i can see the appeal! though it's still not the kind of music i personally enjoy. once again maybe it's a right mood thing
