GOOD GOD this one was rough. no one should be making a 2 hour album. this whole thing was pretty forgettable most of the songs sounded the same to me. I did notice some of the songs seemed to transition into each other nicely. i’m sure my opinion of this album would change on a second listen but at 2hours 1 min we know that ain’t happening again.
I have never listened to the doors i am a loser i know. whole album had a great vibe until “alabama song”(least fav track) came on and threw me wayyyy off. some of the lyrics are a little rapey and kinda weird. Favorite track was “Light my fire”. the guitar solo towards the middle reminded me of the solo in magic carpet ride by steppenwolf. I probably wouldn’t listen to this album again but i did add a few songs to my playlist.
Frank was really in his bag with this one. Every song on this album flowed so perfectly into the next, sometimes i couldn’t even tell if a new song had started. I noticed a lot of the lyrics don’t seem to rhyme but the way Frank portrays his heart break is beautiful. Incredibly refreshing to hear break up songs that are written with a more optimistic and future forward mindset. I feel like my rating of this is slightly skewed as i am coming out of a recent breakup and a lot of these lyrics were very relatable to what i’m feeling currently. I joined this album grind late but this has easily been my favorite so far. Fav songs I Get Along Without You Very Well & Can’t We Be Friends ?
I don’t have a lot to say for this one. Was definitely way better than mellon collie. This is the smashing pumpkins i know and love. The embodiment of late 90s early 2000s rock. was kind of interesting to see how their sound changed between the two albums.
