Graceland by Paul Simon
May 23 2023

Highlights: You Can Call Me Al, The Boy in the Bubble, I Know What I Know Leave Em's: That Was Your Mother Overall Thoughts: First time listening to Paul Simon and I thought this project was masterful. His blend of singer/songwriter with clear African influence is done in good taste. Several songs make me want to dance and move along. Pleasantly surprised in the first album I received.

2112 by Rush
May 24 2023

Highlights: Temples of Syrinx, Something for Nothing Leave Em's: A 20 minute "medley" to start the album, Lessons Overall Thoughts: Really don't like the format of the album which begins with a twenty minute medley and only like one song from said medley. The theme of a futuristic galactic sound is cool and it allowed to vary their sound to make songs sound just different enough.

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
May 26 2023

For what seems to be a rock experimental album I enjoyed lots of the sounds that were produced throughout. The lyrics seem to not have much significance other then displaying vocal ranges as instruments of their own. Reminds me a little bit of Nirvana in the lyricism or lack there of. Overall, the album feels like interesting and digestible background noise that is reminiscent of the early 2000's. Fun Note: Released on the first day on the new century Jan. 1 2001

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
May 29 2023

Some classic soft rock that has a similar sound throughout, fortunately I think that sound is good.

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Jun 06 2023

Highlights: Nuthin' But a "G" Thang, Let Me Ride Leave Em's: Deeez Nuuuts, High Powered Overall Thoughts: A big bite of West coast hip hop sound from the 90's. I really like the instrumentals that were used in early hip hop, although they do lead to songs sounding similar especially when listened to back to back like this. The lyrics tended to feel repetitive and made songs blend together. The goods songs definitely pull their weight and make it enjoyable throughout but it is not quite perfect.

Go Girl Crazy by The Dictators
Jun 07 2023

Highlights: Master Race Rock, Weekend Leave Em's: Teengenerate, Two Tub Man Overall Thoughts: My first impression was that this album is a joke between the cover and their sound, and I do think that it is somewhat satirical. The embodiment of as much punk rock as possible was actually pretty fun to listen to though. While some of the lyrics were hard to take seriously, the instrumentation was great and I liked the sound on pretty much every song.
