Abbey Road
BeatlesI know this is a very influential album but some of the songs are not really as good as the standouts. Golden slumbers, come together, something, and carry that weight being the standouts. Others have cool elements but parts that are just lazy word soup. 1. Come Together - such a cool vibe. Buy lyrics are total nonsense. Walrus gumboot? Ono sideboard? 2. Something - cute ballad, but not a lot there. 3. Maxwell's silver hammer - upbeat song about a serial killer with a hammer. major tone mismatch between lyrics and music. 4. Oh Darling! - insane vocals. Love that this was written when they were contemplating breakup. 5. Octopus's Garden - whimsical, great guitar intro. dreamy backup vocals. 6. I want you - love the guitar and raw vocals. Not much here lyric wise, but such a cool vibe. You can hear the influence on later acts like Jimi Hendrix, the doors. the 2.5 minute guitar outro is awesome. 7. Here Comes the Sun - love it. hard to listen with fresh ears due to how ubiquitous this one is. 8. Because - operatic. love the harpsichord. 9 You never give me your money - love the lyrics about economic hardship. 10. sun king - slow sweet forgettable. weird spanish word soup at the end 11. mean mr mustard - this is totally the sound I associate with this period of beatles music. random song about a mean hobo and his sister - maybe the pam of the next song? 12. polythene pam - forgettable. short. bleeds into next song. 13. She came in through the bathroom window. 14. Golden Slumbers - probably the best song on the album and one of my favorite beatles songs 15. Carry that Weight - 5/5 song 16. The end - would have been great to end on but then 17. Her majesty - forgettable
