Beautiful folk. Made to listen while inside a lover’s arms. This is a backwards description but: the sunshine version of Nico’s folk (I know it work the other way around but, negative definitions exist right?)
Great opener. So far it’s good. I wish the vocals were less restrained. They seem to lack emotion, like they’re doing a corporate 9-5 office job. Don’t get me wrong, it is probably objectively good, I just don’t fully connect. Having said that, ‘afraid of everyone’ is a top track. Overall, it’s like you diluted Nick Cave / Tindersticks in a barrel of Mumford and Sons. It’s almost a little too hipster? Yes. It’s hipster. It’s okay. If I could give half stars I would give it 2.5. But we’ll give 3 for effort. It’s what Taylor Swift probably recognizes as deep music. And we love Taylor Swift, but it gives me shallow depth. ‘Lemonworld’ is a very fun track! The writing overall is great, it’s the vocals and maybe how hard the music goes that doesn’t quite get there.
What is there to say? One of the great masters. A trailblazer. His music is like a fire making its way through a lush forest. Important. Not much more can be said than... This is Fela Kuti. Period.
It’s still very hard to listen to Kanye. His antisemitism ruined this so much. Why has everyone forgiven him? Fuck him. Having said, had he not become that, this would probably be 5… I’ll give it a 4.
Wow! Psychedelia supreme. Incredible skill playing the sitar, over great psychedelic beats, with some quieter, layered, beautiful synths.
LOVE this!!!! Opener is FIRE! / Buried Alive is giving goth/metal anthem! Raise The Dead is fun. Album so far is a 5. Maybe a very strong 4, just because there are other metal albums I would consider a 5, that I find more iconic (for me), that deserve some distinction. So perhaps just to acknowledge the others, I will give this 4, but objectively a perfect album that deserves a 5. Maybe I’ll give it a 5. Let’s wait and see… Fuck it. It’s a 5. So fun.
Gimme Shelter and You Can’t Always Get What You Want are all time classics. The album overall is almost like an excuse to have those songs in an album. Not the strongest of albums, consistency wise. Title track is a good road song, probably. Midnight rambler is fun. But what do you rate a classic with very weak songs? A three.
Against my better judgment, I’ve complied. Listening to Oasis. Hello is actually a fun track I would’ve eaten up at 16. Roll with it… meh, emo, pop punky, off-brand Beatles. Whiny!!! (Wonderwall). He thinks he’s John Lennon… (Don’t Look Back in Anger). But undeniably catchy chorus! Credit where credit is due. It’s basically Ricardo Arjona in English. Negativo el procedimiento. (Like I said, some promising hooks, like in She’s Electric, but it’s all so framed in this whiny boring package, I’m not interested). 2 stars to reflect the occasional good songwriting.
Fun!!! He’s feeling it! Bob Dylan’s dance record 😂 Okay that was the opening track. Now Simple Twist of Fate. Beautiful!! I could see it as a trance disco banger. WHY AM I SAYING THAT!!!
Chill, nice enough opening. It’s a little washed over, flat. It’s okay. Would not mind it playing quietly in the background.
LOVE the opening. Very cool new romantic with lo fi production. Pretty in Pink is so beautiful!!! Bauhaus does The Mamas and The Papas?? Gets better and even slightly funkier. Loooove it. Into you like a train, slay slay slaaaaay
I mean… c’mon. Favorite tracks: a bunch of lonesome heroes, the partisan, seems so long ago, nancy; the old revolution! The butcher (beautiful). All of them… DAMN… Lady Midnight MEEE! Etc etc. 5 stars. Anyone surprised?
Yup. Very good. 4 very strong stars (not 5 because it simply isn’t the music I seek out, but obviously an all time classic).
Psychedelia. Good. Delightful. Not great while hungover 😂😂. My mirage is funnn.
