Listened to it multiple times today, that’s gotta be a good sign, right?
It had some good songs, had some ok songs. Decent album.
One of my favourite albums, yeah it’s kind of intelligible, but isn’t that the point?
I wanted to like it but to be honest I just found it quite banal and annoying. The sounds of the guitar paired with Bowie’s incoherent wails, could be compared to an alley of cats and chalkboards. Don’t get me wrong, there were some nice sounds in there, but they were few and far between.
I’m disappointed as this album holds quite the legacy and I feel like I am missing some major context that, when I discover it, will transform the album into something beautiful and harmonious.
Who knows, I might rediscover this album in 10 years time, with a fresh perspective and an open mind. That being said, I likely won’t be reaching for it again any time soon.

I liked it.
I liked the jazzy, brass band elements, but other than that, it was ok. Once you’d heard a couple songs, you’d heard them all as they all sounded relatively the same.
Only gave it one listen. I reckon it had potential, so will give it another listen some time soon
The Kinks are really great. I’ve never listened to this album before, bar Victoria (a bop), but I thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed it. Will definitely be listening again. Might make it to 5 stars in the future.
I wish I could give this 2.5 stars, but alas that is not possible. So while I don’t think it fully deserves 2 stars, I will be giving it this. There were some parts that I liked, particularly some of the sounds at the beginning, but I have no urge to give it a re listen.

It seems harsh but I did just get a bit bored so I will give this 2 stars. As much as I love pinball wizard, the rest of the album just didn’t pique my interest.
Was it the train of screaming school children or the album itself? We’ll never know. What we do know is that I will not be tuning in again, apologies :(. Under different circumstances you might’ve been the one (probs not).
