Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Oct 06 2023

Aqualung starts a little odd but near the three minute mark I start to really enjoy the soft rock. Cross-eyed Mary is pretty sweet sounding. The lyrics are still pretty weird and creepy but, the album is following a story and I appreciate that. Cheap day return was short and folky. Mother goose feels very folk music-esque. It is kind of an old renaissance fair kinda vibe. Wond’ring aloud was short and honestly kind of forgettable. Up to me started with a nice guitar and transitioned into a kind of funky flute thing. This is probably my favorite song of the album so far. My god starts pretty slow with singing and a quiet guitar but then transitioned into some pretty killer electric which I thought was pretty sweet. Hymn 43 was super bluesy and had a lot of strong electric guitar runs with perfect drum fills, this is one of the best songs off of this album. slipstream came and went, nothing memorable. Locomotive breathe was really cool, I loved the subtle piano in the background. Wind up started a little underwhelming but then it picked up and caught me by surprise. Lick your fingers clean was pretty cool and you could here the classic rock in this one especially. There is a second version of wind-up which is slightly different, sounds recorded from about aa mile away. finally, Ian Andersons interview (the final track) explains how the album came to be and the recording of the studio in which they shared a studio with led zeppelin. Overall this album was good but I feel like it wasn't mostly something that I would listen to on my own very frequently. 6.4/10.

Genesis starts very metal and ominous, and jumped into an insane crunchy beat. Let there be light almost felt like a public service alarm but again became some beautiful crunch. D.A.N.C.E was a very upbeat change and was enjoyable. Newjack was cool but sounded not unique. Phantom had a cool bounce Phantom pt. 2 was a little grittier but about the same for me Valentine felt very ominous kinda video game-esque The party wasn’t really my style probably my least favorite so far DVNO sounded the same as what they previously did Stress was just a mosquito in my ear Waters of Nazareth was crunchy and fresh definitely my favorite. One minute to midnight was very rock oriented probably my second favorite. Overall:5.7/10

Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips
Oct 08 2023

Fight test is an awesome groovy vibe of a song. Great intro song. One more robot/sympathy 3000-21 is a slower kinda more ethereal sounding song before the drum comes in, the bass is super groovy. Yoshima battles the pink robots pt. 1 is a very upbeat song with great background music and fun lyrics. Pt. 2 was a louder heavier sound that was very groovy but also feels like a transitional part of the album. In the morning of the magicians has a sweet drum background and a whomp bass i really appreciate. It transitions into a slow acoustic driven beautiful song. The rest was also awesome just didn’t really have time to rate 8.6/10

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Oct 10 2023

Pink moon is very calm like a fall drive. Short and sweet. Place to be is very smooth and the acoustic guitar is great compliment to the rest of the song. Road is cool very folky, I think the first two were better but it is still good. Which will had the same great vibe as the first two songs. Sounded like the opening scene of a movie. Horn was only a little over a minute long and definitely displayed the the guitar a little more softly. Great just felt like filler. Things behind the sun felt like a more camp fire type of song and i really loved its vibe. This is probably my favorite so far. Know was another filler feeling song that sounded kinda poorly produced. This is my least favorite so far. Parasite feels a little darker but has a pretty simple melody. Free ride sounds pretty cool but it doesn’t feel as well thought out as some of the other songs. Harvest breed is a lot like know to me just not great. From the morning brought back the great vibe from the first half and just helped me like this album again. Overall this album was pretty solid with some great songs. I did feel however, that the second half was lacking the things that made the first half almost perfect. 8.2/10
