1001 Albums Summary

I'm predisposed against this album. I've never really enjoyed this era of hip hop and found the style to be corny at best since I didn't grow up with it. I was surprised by how enjoyable I found this album. The second half seemed stronger with a better variety and more experimental beats than the prior. Humerous lyrics. I think the album has aged pretty well despite being a bit of a time capsule. I find it enjoyable in the context of an album but nothing is getting added to my favorites playlist.

I didn't love the album as much as I thought I would. Alot of the drum patterns are kicks on 1&3 and snares on 2&4 for large spans of time. There's some cool experimentation but a lot of the kind of dirty synth patches feel a bit samey by the end of the album. I've heard most of this album before so maybe it just lost it's luster / novel appeal because I'm familiar with a lot of the material.

One of my favorite styles of soul/funk. Harmonies are enchanting.

Not my favorite Dylan album ever. I prefer Highway 61 over this one. Great lyrical content as usual for Dylan but the compositions on this one left me wanting.

Good songs but they don't really speak to me. Simple man is very good, frisson inducing.

I liked this album quit a bit. Boys and girls is a strong opener. The frantic energy of bank holiday captures the peculiar feeling of a bank holiday. Feeling rushed to go have fun and not waste your day off work.

I enjoy this genre of music a lot. The songs were well composed and interesting.

Classic record. Old cube is goated

Really cool tunes on this album, but the choruses are weak throughout the album. A few spotty vocal performances as well.
