Feast of Wire by Calexico

Went into this blind, and wasn’t too sold on seeing the album art. Boy, was I wrong. I loved the sad, solemn feel; western noir was a good way of putting it. Really wish I would have found this band when I was going through my angsty indie teens. Reminds me a lot of Bright Eyes, Neutral Milk Hotel, etc. Very cool lesson about not judging a book by its cover.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys

Really interesting album sonically. I have always known this album to be important to pop music, but had never heard anything other than "Wouldn't It Be Nice" and "God Only Knows". So many instruments, so many different sounds. I feel like this really ushered pop music into an new era. Loved it.

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
Oct 06 2023

For me this was a solid intro to 60's pop music. Not the hugest Beatles fan, but this definitely had a couple bops. Probably will check out the movie at some point. Excited to see the development of their sound in later albums.

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
Oct 07 2023

Disorder is a classic. A few of the other songs tend to drag on. Definitely see how this band inspired a lot of punk sound in the 80's and onward. Listened to on a walk in October, definitely set the mood for spooky season. Overall more misses than hits.

If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears by The Mamas & The Papas

Incredible album. California Dreamin' is one of the best songs ever recorded and I feel like the rest of the album stands up as well.

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Oct 10 2023

Really enjoyed this. Harpsichord sounds nice. Our house is a banger. Wish that half of the album wasn't unavailable on Spotify.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys

The Poet by Bobby Womack
Oct 12 2023

Short and sweet. Couple of toe-tappers for sure. Really enjoyed Secrets, gonna keep that one in rotation.

OK Computer by Radiohead
Oct 13 2023

Incredible album, I love the noisy dissonance a lot of the songs evolve into. Definitely recommend playing this through headphones. Losing one star because Thom Yorke's voice gets to me after an hour or so.

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
Oct 14 2023

Time After Time and Girls Just Wanna Have fun are absolute classics, but the rest of this album was super hard for me to get through. Cyndi's vocals get to me after awhile. I liked the little He's So Unusual interlude though.

Oct 15 2023

Incredible. No skips on this album. The Man Who Sold the World was a stand-out to me, great cover. I can't believe I haven't given this album a chance until now.

Street Signs by Ozomatli
Oct 16 2023

Fun little album. Very dance-y, I loved the fusion of international sounds. Latin, reggae, hip-hop, etc. Makes me wish I was fluent in Spanish.

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
Oct 17 2023

Short and sweet. I love Speaking in Tongues so I'm glad I got to play this album out. Funky and fun. Once In A Lifetime is an anthem.

The Undertones by The Undertones
Oct 18 2023

Fun album. First time really listening to this band. Definitely keeping this one in rotation.

Bossanova by Pixies
Oct 19 2023

Pretty solid. My first real delve into The Pixies. Excited for their other albums.
