Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Oct 06 2023

Really great album, particularly love If I Could. A wonderful mix of sounds while all staying true to the Folk Rock core. Love how far away the vocals sound while still being clear.

Fragile by Yes

Never heard this band before. Absolutely fantastic album. A lot of the songs do have a very similar sound, but it is a fresh and unique one.

Psychedelic does not do this justice. I can't say that I love it, actually. A lot of the same sounds and the same progressions of notes as musical motifs that may have been revolutionary at the time, but being exposed to it for the first time now has me unimpressed. It is entirely possible that I would have been forever changed by this album had I heard it when it came out in 1982. Which is a weird release year given that the first track, 1999, is written as if it is a throwback to a better and simpler time. I actually do really enjoy DMSR. I suppose it is possible that the album changes after the first four songs. Automatic is a 10 minute bop All the Critics Love U in New York

Passover Nice basslines, all a single one hour song but it is a good one

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Oct 13 2023

I almost refuse to rate any of what little Hendrix there is anything lower than a 4.5, but I will try to give this album an honest listen. Spanish Castle Magic If 6 Was 9 Little Miss Lover

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Oct 14 2023

Not a huuuge fan so far. I do think the music is creatively solid and has a really fun sound, but the lyrics leave a lot to be desired for me. It feels like she only really has one message to split between all 11 songs, and it's a shallow message to begin with. That said, I am not usually a fan of troubled heart, love gone wrong, edgy and broken songs to begin with, so she started at a bit of a disadvantage.
