Blur by Blur

Underwhelming. Sounds like an album for happy prat’s whose parents paid for their college education. Cool guitar tones. Lame chore changes. Trying too hard to be eccentric and unique. Meh. Never understood the hype 🤷‍♂️ lyrics are as blunt as a buried blade. I see it’s merit though and the sound is full. I like the production and sounds more than the songwriting.

Blueprint to everything. Master.

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Oct 09 2023

Very cool to hear Amy on the brink of greatness and getting her start with this album. Rip.

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Oct 10 2023

Classic. Pink Floyd can do no wrong in my opinion. Well… maybe a little but this album is definitely made for the ages. Epic!

Low by David Bowie
Oct 11 2023

Favorite Bowie album for years. I haven’t really come back to it in a while so my tastes might have changed a bit but regardless it is a 5/5 no question. The despair and feeling in some of these songs are incredible and I feel like I’m staring down the wall in east Berlin. Wild how art can achieve so much with so little. Bowie is one of the greatest artists of our era without a doubt. Constantly pushing the boundaries of what is deemed “acceptable” and blasting through the norms without hesitation. A true hero and pioneer for weirdos and eccentric individuals. Not to mention breaking countless gender norms. Rip.

Pacific Ocean Blue by Dennis Wilson
Oct 12 2023

I'm sure this record will get stronger with me over time. It's a pretty wild ride and some moments I'm really digging everything about it, particularly the experimental dark production of it. Pretty cool! Other parts I was put off and not impressed but I like it overall!

I was initially going to review this at 3.5 stars but that closing track had me in goosebumps the whole time. It is such a great album in the early days of synth pop and I mean... Tainted Love is a staple of the 80's aesthetic, blowing music into full blown synth land where anything was possible with increasingly affordable and new technology in drum machines and synthesizers. 4 stars.

Interesting arrangements and production techniques but not really a fan truth be told. 3 stars.

Go Girl Crazy by The Dictators
Oct 16 2023

I'm not really sure what to think of this one. I am a huge punk fan but this was hard to listen to I just don't like the songs or lyrics. 2 stars, I will come back to it and listen again

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Oct 17 2023

Seminal hip hop album but I can't stand the misogyny in it. Talking about passing her around to the homies etc. wtf.

Devotional Songs by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
Oct 18 2023

Pretty monotonous but I see the value of it. I respect Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan for exposing the world to this type of music and his voice is incredible. Not really sure what to make of it though I think I need to listen to this with some mushroom pizza.

...The Dandy Warhols Come Down by The Dandy Warhols
Oct 19 2023

Druggy album, pretty cool arrangements but boring songwriting and stale production. It's too crisp and I just don't really think it's anything to write home about. Plus they are major assholes. Maybe if I was high as fuck I would give it another star. Or I am missing it's merit. overall i just feel it's rather weak and bland.
