Sound of Silver
LCD Soundsystem
I've never understood the appeal of LCD Soundsystem. This album reminds me of a drunken night out: loud, vapid, chaotic, and ending with a literal hangover of a song. Maybe I wouldn't mind this playing in the background of a lobby or cocktail bar while I do more interesting things with my life.

Ella's voice just makes you want to grab someone special and sway.

Arena rock isn't usually my thing, but there's some fun tracks here. I appreciate the artistry of it.

Nevermind
Nirvana
I never think of myself as a Nirvana fan until I hear them “in the wild” and realize just how many of their songs I know by heart. This album captures a bit of everything that makes Nirvana great.

You've Come a Long Way Baby
Fatboy Slim
I’ve loved Praise You since I was a kid, and that’s the only reason this didn’t get one star. I see the value of this album as high art or “couture” music, but honestly there’s a limit to how much repetition a person can stand, and modern electronic artists thankfully seem to have a better understanding of that.

It’s fun, in a dreary-Scottish-rainy-day sort of way. If you’re into that.

Metallica
2 straight hours of Metallica is a LOT of Metallica. But that being said, this would have been an amazing concert to see live. I'm not a huge fan of metal music, but I've always respected the artistry of the genre. It's fun to throw on every now and again.

Kanye West
Very excited to get this album today. It's sad to look back on some of the obvious cries for help in these tracks, but they're a brilliant example of Kanye's next-level production and composition abilities. For me, that talent has always redeemed his poor lyrics.

I don't understand why a film score is considered part of this list? I can see how this would set the right tone as background music for a film, but it doesn't seem like groundbreaking music/art to me. It also got pretty annoying after a while.

Oh, Zeppelin. This is a favorite of mine. There's something about Zeppelin that sets them apart from the rest of their rock contemporaries. I've never been able to put my finger on it, something just clicks for me.

I hope I don't do this often because I don't feel good about it, but I couldn't bring myself to finish this album. Not even just a sample of each song. I've heard that Dylan is a love-it or hate-it situation, and I've learned that I'm soundly in the latter camp. This album has the personality of that one guy you went to high school with who could undeniably shred on guitar, but had the personality and conversation skills of a potato.
