Highway to Hell
AC/DCHonestly it's good fun, but it's 10 times the same song. Highway to Hell is rightfully the title track, most of the rest is the same. Good to turn on if you want to not pay attention to music

Wow. When I was young, I grew up with friends who snuffed at rap music. Now, some fifteen years later, I hear this and think: "Man, what a waste, to dismiss a complete genre of music". There is some proper ART here. Especially the song Stan hit me hard. But I also feel very conflicted. Because after listening the whole album, I feel like there's a bunch of songs that just purely go for shock factor, edgy edgy, "whoa look at me I say bad stuff in my art". Well, sure, it makes me feel things, so, well done Eminem. But after a while, it just felt like being Bad just for the sake of being Bad. He's not making any points. It feels like at some points in this album, Eminem is just being a white guy making money off of edgy stuff. Seen that 100 times before. Some songs are GREAT, and some songs are, well, shite.
The guy sure loves his trumpets. This album had me vibing on my couch, at times swinging along, especially Satisfaction really pumps energy. The band is having a good time! The album didn't really connect with me emotionally, though. It feels like it's just a bunch of technically well-executed songs in soul style, while it misses an actual Soul. Even Respect, which is his own song, was given much more emotion by Aretha Franklin. Otis was clearly a very talented musician, he's adding tonnes of flair on every line, but it feels like an empty husk to me, sadly.
Ahh, improv. I can imagine that this was a GREAT concert to attend. I love me some jamming. A bit part of enjoying that is 'being there', though. Sadly, I wasn't there. However, this album is still very nice, consistent, poppin'. I can't get myself to constantly pay attention to this, but I listened to it on the background and found myself constantly joining the rhythm. So, a very functional album, then!
Oof. Clearly the instrumentals are great here. I just cannot vibe with his singing at all. What an incredibly annoying flair, he gives to his notes. And some texts that I dare say come way too close to sexist. You could say that it's a product of its time, but then I say, well, that was a shitty time. All in all, not gonna listen to this album again.
Ahh, how chill and fun. I can appreciate this. Not something I'd put on on my own initiative, I'm not a jazz person, so not top marks for me, but it's very good :)
Oh no.. This is exactly my genre, alt-y rock. I was very excited when I heard the first song. But gosh I dislike the lead's voice. Just imagine Summertime Rolls with the same instruments, but with a less... cocky voice. But ahh, I still enjoy it. The instrumentals are top-notch. It's hard to rate this, honestly, since I really like it but still get frustrated by it?
YES. This is why I tried this 1001 albums thing. I had no idea this existed, and it is EXACTLY my thing. Listening to it is like losing yourself into a cloud of dream dust and swirly lights, but it is not scary. It feels like it has to be like that. Like I have to be there. I'm so happy to have found this. It's perfect, a really impressive piece of art.
Great fun :) I like this kind of stuff, just a good vibe. I would definitely immediately get this album if I see it in a second hand store ^^ Perfect to turn on when doing some light household tasks.
Such a fun album to listen to :D I can't get myself to really want to listen it again, but I enjoyed it!
Never have I heard an album with such a consistently banger groove. I understand no French, sadly, but This singing is so rhythmic and /quick/ that I'm very impressed. Is this my fav type of music? Nah. But it is a wondrously strong piece of art.
I.. Don't quite get this album. Let it be the culture disconnect, I suppose. There are some really fun bits in this album, but most of it just has a rhythm that gives me slight anxiety.
