1001 Albums Summary

Enjoyable, if not something I will go back to often.

The album works best when Simon allows himself to experiment and be weird. It's sometimes dragged down by an unwillingness to move away from his past work, but does get better on the back half of the album.

Masterpiece.

Album title is spot on. Soulful and relaxing.

Art rock is really not my thing. Just couldn't appreciate the sound and ducked out a few tracks in.

Funky at times. A little jazzy at others. I'm either nodding my head or tapping my feet. A great pop album, even if the tools used are more rock.

Technically only got half way through. It was fine. Didn't hate it. Didn't love it. Might appreciate more on a second listen.

Felt a little stale at first but really grew on me as time went on. The same goes for his voice. Definitely worth a second listen.

Enjoyable, but honestly a fair bit too long.

Never heard of the group before, but a pleasant surprise. Listened to it in bits and pieces, and really enjoyed what I heard. Will have to do another listen soon.

It was fine. Better than I thought going in. The instrumentals were by and large a lot of fun to listen to with a cool atmospheric quality. That being said, whatever British hipster - and it had to be one to think Alex Turner's side project worthy of a top 1000 album - pushed for it's inclusion needs to be tarred, feathered and chased out of town. It's good, but not nearly good enough.

Anyone who says this album isn't 5 stars is trying too hard to be cool.
