1001 Albums Summary

Is this where I rate? I’m saying solid 6.5/10 just because it’s not super my type of music and 1001 best of ALL TIME calls for a difficult scale lol

Felt like I was watching a Cameron Crowe movie the whole time. Also didn’t recognize a single song so that was fun! Really liked it!!

Love first 2, especially the funny “what” and “yeah” exclamations in Venus. Ngl Marquee Moon got a little long. At 8 minutes just going DU DU DU up the scale I was kinda like okay why are we spending the climax of the song doing a scale but I also did enjoy the musical interlude.

Meh. I listened at the gym which def wasn’t the right vibe so maybe that contributed to my indifference. Didn’t not like, didn’t love. Kinda background music to me.

Have embarrassingly not really ever listened to Jay-Z, so I was really excited this was the pick! Liked it more than I expected, especially some of the more R&B-ish tracks like Heart of the City and Never Change. Also a sucker for a good diss track so I thought Takeover was really fun and it sent me down a rabbit hole learning about the Jay-Z/Nas beef

Just a classic, was waiting for this to pop up. You’re Wrong About has a great episode on this album and the lore behind it!
